Gela Beselia, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor of Behavioral Sciences at Tbilisi Medical Academy and Researcher at the Laboratory of Behavior and Cognitive Functions at the Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine. Gela Beselia got his Degree in 2008, at the Ivane Beritashvili Institute of Physiology of the Georgian National Academy of Science. Gela Beselia also has State Certificates in Phthisiology, Pulmonology, and Neurology and completed relevant residency programs and specialization courses. In 2011-2012 he worked at the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the New York Medical College (Valhalla, NY, USA). In 2020 – 2022 Gela Beselia was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine (Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA). During years, Dr. Beselia conducted the course in the Physiology of Behavior and the course in Physiology in medical high schools. He has 8 years of practical medical experience.
Dr. Gela Beselia is a participant in 13 scientific-research projects. He was awarded with the Presidential Grant for Young Scientists (twice)and was the winner of the grant competition for young scientists, The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Gela Beselia is an author of 28 scientific publications and the participant of more than 15 international conferences. Gela Beselia is a member of Ivane Beritashvili Society of Physiologists of Georgia, the Georgian Neuroscience Association, the International Brain Research Organization and the Federation of European Neuroscience. In 2016-2020, he was the Executive Secretary of the Georgian Neuroscience Association. Since 2023, Dr. Beselia is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Life Neuroscience.
