Nino Pochkhidze, MS and PhD, is a researcher at the Department of Brain Ultrastructure and Nanoarchitecture, Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine and Institute of Chemical Biology Ilia State University. Nino Pochkhidze’s main research interest is the effects of different addictive drugs on the behavior, structure, ultrastructure and nanoarchitecture of limbic, neocortical and extrapyramidal regions of brain. Nino Pochkhidze is also actively involved in Autism studies (Rodent Propionic acid model of autism), investigation of the effects of chronic noise on the brain, and multidirectional studies of aging. Nino Pochkhidze is awarded with Presidential Grant for Young Scientists, Sigma Xi Grant in Aid Research (twice), Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation PhD Grant and more than 37 travel grants from organizing committees of international scientific meetings. Nino Pochkhidze is the participant of twelve scientific grants funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. Nino Pochkhidze was organizing committee member at more than ten international scientific symposiums and schools (2013-2024), co-author of 29 scientific papers published in prestigious international and local scientific journals and the presenter at more than 40 international scientific conferences and symposiums.
Nino Pochkhidze is a head of The Young Scientists Club (Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine), member of Georgian Neuroscience Association, Federation of European Biochemical Societies, Georgian Society of Physiologists, Federation of European Neuroscience Society, International Brain Research Organization, International Society for Neurochemistry, European Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Neurology Society, European Academy of Radiology, International Center for Neuroscience Research and Sigma Xi.
